The most used metal during the known Viking age was actually wrought Iron and low-carbon steel. Most experts agree that items made of polished and high-quality steel were only reserved for people of position, like Earls, Jarls and Kings. But if you imagine an everyday farmer or raider, their personal items were mostly made of stones, wood, leather, cast iron and wrought iron.
